300+ attendees at IMS 2.0 World Forum 2008!
The three day multi-stream event brought together the key players in the whole value chain including service providers of all types and sizes, telecom and IT solution providers and application developers.
Delegates had much to hear and discuss, ranging from the ways to open up the service providers' network resources to external development, the dynamics and tensions between IMS, SOA and Web 2.0 to the debate around charging and billing in an IMS environment. The need for standards' consolidation was much at the centre of the debate with Philippe Lucas, VP International Standards at Orange FT Group calling for a simplification and 'de-fragmentation' of standards' bodies and activities.
On Wednesday 23rd the Rich Communication Suite Initiative (RCS), held in the exhibition area live interoperability demonstrations of IMS based features such as enriched call, enhanced phonebook and enhanced messaging. The RCS Initiative is the joint effort of leading industry players including amongst others Ericsson, Telefonica, Orange FT and TeliaSonera to speed up and facilitate the adoption of applications and services that provide an interoperable, convergent, rich communication
experience.
